A relaxing life simulation game

Littlewood is a premium adventure game made by a developer named Sean Young. It is a life sim title featuring charming pixel graphics and city-building gameplay. In it, the enemy has been defeated and the world is saved, and it's time to rebuild the town and start anew.

Just like My Time At Portia or Stardew Valley, Littlewood takes on a more casual and lighthearted approach to its presentation and gameplay. Instead of focusing on boss battles and dungeon-hopping, it offers a slice-of-life experience that players can play and enjoy at their own pace.

When the dust settles

Most adventure games will have you go on an epic journey to defeat evil and save the world. You'll face a variety of enemies, find treasure, and meet new comrades along the way. That is all well and good but rarely do they touch on what happens next—the prologue if you will. Littlewood is looking to change that notion by focusing on the recovery and rebuilding of life.

In this game, the world of Solemn is saved, and you now put your hero days behind you, living a peaceful life. Rebuild the town by collecting materials from nearby forests, caves, and other natural resources around you. Meet townsfolk to unlock new structures and convince them to stay by helping them with their problems. You might even uncover relationship paths with some of them in the process.

To help you acclimate to your new environment, you can take on new interests and hobbies like fishing, farming, and even becoming a merchant of various goods. All of that being said, the game does get a bit dull and repetitive toward the second half, with plenty of grinding involved. There is a certain lack of variety in the gameplay that hopefully can be improved on in future updates.

Laying down roots

Littlewood is an interesting adventure game with a unique premise that not a lot of other games have tried before. It combines charming pixel graphics and relaxing gameplay as you put the hero business behind you and lay down roots. It kicks off strong but the experience slowly diminishes and becomes repetitive before long. Some new content updates should fix this right up, though.

PROS

  • Good city-building mechanics
